Current Obsession - Tangle Teezer Original Pink

First time i found out about this brush is from my fellow bloggers page Zara which you may know as Mouldyfruit! She had only good things to say about this brush so when i saw it at my local Sallys Beauty Supply store i knew i had to have it. I'm so happy that i found it since i thought they had it only in the UK. If you are from the UK and are interested in the brush, you can check out Zaras review on it HERE.

One of the most annoying things to me is to brush my hair after i shower. I have naturally curly hair so its really hard sometimes to tame it down and work with it smoothly. Even if i use conditioner, i still have knots in my hair and using a regular brush just pulls my hair out. First time i used the Tangle Teezer i almost screamed. Brushing my hair has never been so easy and smooth going. It untangles any knots easily without pulling the hair painfully out of my head. The bristles are soft and because of the way that they're arranged and different size it helps work with any part of your hair. Even after i style my hair, using this just makes everything look smooth and put together. I would definitely recommend checking this brush out especially if you have thick curly/wavy hair that gives you a hard time.
Look for it at your local Sallys Beauty Supply. It's around $12 but i promise its worth it.
It also comes in purple, but of course i had to have the pink one!

One n' Only Argan Heat Ceramic Dryer

I have been on the lookout for a new hair dryer since my last one broke - RIP baby CHI dryer, sigh. I went over to Sally Beauty Supply to check some things out. Of course i was a bit overwhelmed with the ton of choices that they have. After what seemed like ages, i decided to pick up the One n' Only Argan Heat Ceramic Dryer. Its probably one of the best hair dryers ive had in my opinion. It dries my hair really fast and doesn't seem to dry it out like my other one. I also loved that it came with a small size Argan oil, which is really healthy for the hair - from what i know. When i do try it, i will have a separate review post about it with more details on that. When i picked up the dryer, they had a special to get a free brush, i got one of those also, which is really good. You can check out the dryer on Sally website. Here's what they say about it:

  • Professional 1875W AC motor
  • 6 heat/speed settings
  • Concentrator nozzle
  • Removable lint filter
  • 8-ft power cord
  • Ionic generator
The One 'n Only 1875 Watt Argan Heat Ceramic Ionic Dryer features a grill that is infused with Argan Oil, derived from the Argan Tree. Argan oil is rich in essential fatty acids, omega-6 and vitamin E. It is valued for its ability to revive and nourish dry, damaged hair. Ceramic provides even heat distribution and emits far-infrared heat for gentle styling, as well as natural ions that reduce frizz and static for smoother, shinier hair.

Argan Heat smooths the cuticle for silky and healthy looking hair and eliminates frizz creating brilliant shine. Helps to preserve the color and integrity of hair reviving and conditioning it.

The One 'n Only Argan Heat Ceramic Dryer is a lightweight dryer weighing just 22 ounces with a professional grade AC motor and ionic generator. Other features include 6 heat/speed settings, cold shot button, concentrator nozzle, removable filter and cold shot button.

The fact that its an ionic dryer attracted me to it, so it helps the hair stay shiny and healthy. I love that it has a variety of speeds and heat settings, so you can adjust it based on your personal preference. I like to use it on high setting, which helps hair dry really quickly which helps avoid damage in the long run. The one thing that may bother some people would be that it is on the heavy side. Its a fairly large dryer but i don't mind it. I would recommend this dryer if you have frizzy hair like me. It leaves my hair with very little frizz, since my hair has a mind of its own sometimes and likes to be curly. The quick dry hair is time saving, leaving my hair fully dry, soft and shinny.
 PROS:
  • Leaves hair shinny
  • Little frizz
  • Dries really quickly
  • Various speeds and heat settings
  • Long cord
  • Really affordable
  • Slick look
  • Comes with small Argan oil bottle
CONS:
  • High setting may sound too loud
  • Big dryer may be heavy for some

Favorite Hair Products

I always like to try products for my hair but there are just a few that i keep going back to and like to use a lot. I have crazy wavy frizzy natural hair so i have to take care of it and use certain things to protect it and make it look somewhat normal and avoid the whole cave woman style. I don't tend to use a ton of products but these are some that are my current everyday uses, also given the very hot muggy weather.

Start off

Finish

So here's my list:

When it comes to washing my hair, i like to switch up my shampoo every so often once my hair gets used to a certain type. I always seem to come around to using Tresemme shampoo and conditioner whether it's for volume, heat protector or naturals. I feel like there's always a type of shampoo for how my hair tends to feel. This is the one i'm currently using and likings a lot. I will admit that the idea of Natural organic ingredients made want to try and i really like it.
__________________________________________
Again going with Tresemme products, a very popular one that i'm sure you may be familiar with is the heat tamer spray that protects against heat damage. Since my hair has a mind of its own, i have to keep it under control with lots of heat. I like to spray a little all over my hair but mostly focusing on the ends since they show the most damage when using hot tools. Smells flowery to me and leaves my hair soft and shinny.
________________________________________
Speaking of shinny hair, i love running Got2b Glossy anti-frizz serum to make sure my hair stays in place giving the weather these days. It adds a nice shine to my hair and i always love the smell of Got2b products. You only need to use a little bit, and run it through my entire hair making sure i dont touch my roots or bangs because it is somewhat oily so it would just make my hair look dirty.
__________________________________________________
Herbal Essence hair sprays are my favorite ones to use. They don't have that terrible hair spray smell that a lot of other brands do. It's always fruity or flowery and nice and they work great without it leaving my hair dry or heavy with product. I don't always use hair spray but when i do its this one.
__________________________________________
Lastly the tools that i use to control my hair are both CHI products. My blowdryer is sort of falling apart at the moment. I've had it for a while now but it's a favorite of mine. Dries my hair quickly and the heat doesn't seem to make full damage. I love it.
My hair straightner i recently got and i love it. CHI never lets me down. It's a ceramic straightner, which are the best types. CHI was the brand i love because it was my first hair straightner brand that i got back in high school, so i've been loyal ever since. This one that i got has curved edges so it works great to curl your hair.
Here's a picture of my hair using all the products mentioned. I had curled my hair using my hair straightner and used the hairspray to bring it all together.

I'm also looking into getting some hair treatments and masks to use, so ill make a post in the future when i find a few to try and talk to you about.

Hair - Lets do the twist!

So if you follow me on Twitter, you may or may not know that this weekend i lived with no electricity in my house. You can email if you're curious as to why it happened lol... but it was a nightmare! I could write a long list of things that went wrong and how bad my weekend was LOL On top of everything, today i started school and i was freaking out because of how i'm going to fix my hair - NO hair straightner and NO blow-dryer... So if you happen to find yourself in awkard situations like i did... don't panic! ...There's a solution and i think i discovered my "in case of emergency" hairstyle lol!

Here's the breakdown of what i did:
  • Washed my hair like i regularly do it (shampoo/conditioner)
  • After you towel dry it, apply some anti-frizz or tamers - I used Garnier Fructis Style Fiber Gum Putty - and work it through your hair, focusing on the front because that's the part that needs to be in place.
  • I wanted to make my natural hair look like a headband, so i started from my right year and twisted it inward, working it in sections until i got to my left year and kept going until the middle of my back.
  • I used bobby pins so secure the braid in place.
  • I put up part of my hair with a clip and brought it up to make a mild poof LOL

-You can also part your hair and work them to the right and the left and meet them in the middle and tie them up in a pony tail and work from there.
I let my hair air dry and made sure i put enough product, so it wont frizz up and give me a hard time. I've gotten a lot of compliments for my hair and i was very surprised it came out this nice, knowing i had no other choice LOL!

HAUL - Target and Office Depot

TARGET
I went to Target today to just look around and see what new things they have. They usually have great bargains and i LOVE a good bargain LOL! I had to get new makeup removers...again, since both my mom and i use them lol they have them on sale now for $4.47 so it was super worth it.

I found AMAZING deals.
First thing i went for was a new shampoo and conditioner. I found these on a savings rack and they're basically sets of shampoo that came with a hairspray and a conditioner that came with a mousse. Each was $3.99! I was super excited. The shampoo and conditioner are Herbal Essences Moisturizing that smells amazing - orchid and coconut milk. My hair has been super dry lately and this always helps out. The mousse and hair spray have a lily bliss fragrance.

Then i spotted this great deal from Rimmel London. They had the Stay Matte pressed powder in a deal of Buy one Get one. I always wanted to try this powder out and heard a lot of good things about it. I got it in the shade Sandstorm and it works great. I love the quality, and how it makes my skin super soft and doesn't even look like i have powder on. It is matte so it has the tendency to look too dry if you have dry skin, or if u don't use a highlight (which i do) then it looks a little drying. It says its shine control, but i have oily skin and by the end of the day my T-zone does still get shiny. I love the quality though. It's not powdery, so it's not messy if you use a brush. The one thing im not a big fan of is the packaging. It feels tacky and awkward LOL. All in all though im happy about it.

OFFICE DEPOT
I had to pick up a few things before school starts on Monday. I got a white-out because i always use this LOL, this super cute tiny stapler and this set of marker pens that i heard about by watching DulceCandy87s' "What's in my school bag?" video, and i REALLY liked them. I always take notes in colored pens so i can organize myself easier, and me being super artsy, i fell in love with these lol

I absolutely LOVE shopping for supplies and i get anything cute i can get my hands on LOL. Hence this super cute pink stapler, which i absolutely love! School starts Monday so i'm ready to go =)

Hair routine!

A lot of you were asking me and messaging me about my hair, so i thought i would talk about what i do and the products i use to tame this mess on my head LOL. My routine always changes, so this post is what im using at the moment depending on my mood and that of my hairs.

Shampoo/Conditioner
This is the one step that never ever stays the same. Whenever i finish a shampoo bottle, i go buy another one...literally a different one every single time lol The one im using at the moment (which is about to finish!) is Dove...BTW im fully aware that the shampoo and conditioner are for different things but that's how i wanted them lol. I've been loving Dove shampoo for about a year and a half or so. They have sooooo many different types of Dove and i can say i've tried almost every single one. You can find the one that fits your type of hair best. The shampoo im currently using is for Intensive Repair, because i use hot tools to style my hair and it damages it. I feel that Dove REALLY helps it out. The conditioner is for Volume Boost to give my hair a little umph...doesn't really work that well but oh well, it smell nice lol

Comb from Sallys Beauty Supply
I keep this in the shower to brush my hair when i apply the conditioner. It spreads it evenly throughout the hair and smoothes it out so you can brush it easier later on. (I make sure to just brush from the top of my head, down. I avoid adding conditioner on my bangs because it leaves it oily and gross)

Leave-in Conditioner
Sometimes if im in a hurry and don't bother with conditioner in the shower, i have this handy leave-in conditioner that detangles my messy hair. The one i like using it by Aussie - Hair Insurance. I just spray it all over my hair before i brush it, and it makes it a lot easier, instead of bulling the hair out of my head.

STYLING!
To style my hair i use different products depending on how my hair is after i blowdry it, or how the weather is outside. My natural hair is very wavy and frizzy...picture Tina Turner LOL! These are all the products i use, depending whether i want to keep my hair naturally curly/wavy, straighten it or style some curls.

Got2B - Wavy Hair
I can't believe i almost have the whole set of this Smooth Operator thing lol! I use these when it's not so humid outside and i can leave my hair out and about because it makes it look really nice. Before i blowdry my hair i use the Smoothing Luxury Mousse so it tames down the hair while drying it. Then i apply the Smoothing Lustre Lotion which is like a cream that keeps the hair together. It looks wet when u apply it but then it dries and leave the hair looking shinny and smooth. Sometimes i use the Smoothing Hairspray when i want to just wrap up the hair after using so many things lol It's not a sticky hairspray so it just adds help to keep the hair tamed. All of these products btw smell AMAZING. It's that that regular product smell, its very fresh and it lasts like all day. If you don't like hair smell to follow you all day then maybe you have to skip this.

Garnier Fructis
I use this when my hair has a good non-frizzy day. I smooth it out with this Anti-Frizz serum, that is leave-in. It's a bit oily so make sure you don't touch bangs, if you have any, or anywhere that you don't want it to look too oily. This serum smooths the hair and protects it so it won't get frizzy. It smells really nice too. I always spray the hair with hairspray and i love using this Sleek and Shine spray with the serum. The spray isn't sticky so it won't leave your hair dry or crunchy hard.

Got2B - Straight Hair
Can you tell im like obsessed with Got2B stuff lol For when i straighten my hair i use either one of these things, not both. The Crazy Sleek Hot Smooth Flat Iron & Blow-Dry Lotion is like a thermal protection that protects the hair against the heat of the styling products. It doesn't really make my hair feel any different but it just protects it and makes it look less dry. The Styl-Tini Double Shot 24 hour hair thickner is my favorite product. I apply it on damp hair before i blow dry my hair. It gives my hair some volume so when i straighten it, it doesn't have that limpy look to it, since my hair tends to do that even though it is pretty thick.

Big Sexy Hair Tease
I use this when im in the mood to tease my hair. I think i've talked about these before and how i love using them to give my hair a more pumped look. I grab some hair from the crown of my head, spray some hairspray on the roots of that chunk of hair, then tease it with the brush. The spray dries fast, and is sticky so it basically freezes the hair the way i style it. I do this only once in awhile, not every time because it teasing tends to damage the hair.

That's basically all the products i use. I know it seems like a lot but i don't use them ALL at the same time lol I kinda like my hair because there's so many things i can do with it and all these products help me achieve the look im going for.

BONUS:
These are the only hair tools that i use and i absolutely love them. I would love to try some other ones but for now im happy with these
These are other shampoos/conditioners that i've tried and go back to from time to time

These are some of the products that are on my wishlist at the moment

LOVE IS IN THE hAIR!

Ok dolls i've been meaning to write up this post for a few weeks now and never got around to it. Mainly because i was trying to find good pictures of my hair in the past and how it was like. My hair has changed quite a bit in the past 4 years. In high school i had very flat hair when i straightened it. No volume, no body, just limpy hair on my head lol I have done alot of research on how i should achieve more volume and give my hair a more healthy feel to it. I discovered the miracles of Henna. I use it about twice a year to give my hair a fresh start.

What is Henna?
Henna is a plant that grows in hot regions like North Africa and India. It's been used as a dye for hair, skin and fabrics. It's used as a powder mixed with either water or tea, to creat a paste that's pigmented enough to color. Lasting time for the skin and hair are different.
Henna for Hair
The one i love using is called Royal Henna and they come in various colors, depending on what you want to get. There's no chemicals at all, so it's a very safe and natural way to color your hair. It lasts up to six weeks which is about the same time as a regular dye. It gets rid of split ends, conditions the hair, adds body and reduces dandruff. It just feeds the hair natural ingredients and makes it look and feel a lot healthier.

These are the best pictures i found, where you can see the difference in the way the hair looks and the color. In the second photo, the colors are a bit messed around with, but the color of my hair is a redish brown. In the first picture on the left, my hair is naturally brown and i had blonde highlights lol

How i used it
I did it about a weeks ago and i mixed 5 boxes of burgundy and 1 of black. I've done this before so it's not my first time. The black is very strong that's why i only used one. It seems like a lot but there are little powder packets that are mixed together with water until you form a very fine paste. Be careful that whatever the paste touches, will leave a redish mark. It's very pigmented lol. I applied it carefully all over my head covering my entire hair. You don't conver it which means you have to make sure you stay pretty still, so you wont experience any accidents. Now you have to wait until it dries. It took about 3 hours. It's a pain the butt to wash off because you basically have dry mud in your hair. lol

Pros:
- Gives you hair a healthy new strat
- Colors it without damaging it
- Conditions the hair
- Gives it a healthy looking shine
- Gives it body and volume

Cons:
- Dificult to remove from hair
- Can be a bit pricey ($5/box)

Small Drugstore Haul

I went to Walgreens yesterday to pick up some essentials lol I was running out of foundation and thought i'd go pick one up and i ended up getting two! I wanted to try the Warm Golden because the one i've been using (Golden Beige) has a slight pink undertone and it doesn't really match my neck and since the weather is nice i wear shirts that show more of the neck and chest and it looks terrible LOL! The reason i got another Golden Beige was to mix with the Warm Golden in case it was TOO yellow for my liking but it's actually perfect! I found this chart on Google telling you what match you are with the Revlon Colorstay foundation if you know your Mac foundation color.

After seeing this i was torn between the two shades because im an NC30. So far i've worn Warm Golden once and i was very happy. I will post an FOTD with it soon so you can see the difference if possible in pictures lol. It matches my neckline perfectly and im glad i finally found a good match that im happy with.

I also got a new L'oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil eyeliner because i was running out of eyeliners and this is my favorite one to use. It's smooth, lasting and intense. Goes great on the waterline. I picked up a new Carmex in the little jar because i finished my tube one and the other is in my school makeup bag.

They also had these candles on sale for $3.99 from like $6.99 so i couldn't resist. I LOVE candles and i can never have too many. I love the way they smell and they're very strong when i light them up because some of them don't really work. Love 'em!

New Hair Color!

(picture from Google)

I recently colored my hair with the new Garnier HerbaShine. I usually color my hair with Garnier because it has no ammonia. I don't like to use harsh chemicals. So since my brown roots were growing out i decided to color it. I picked this one because i saw it on sale, and that it's new. The reason i like getting these on sale is because i need two boxes! lol i have to much hair that one box is never enough. The shade i picked is Soft Black (200)
______________________________
What is HerbaShine?
A new generation of haircolor from Garnier with bamboo extract. It improves the condition of hair by fortifying the cuticle while wrapping it in radiant, shiny color.

How does it work?
This exclusive ammonia free color creme with bamboo extract reinforces the hair's protective cuticle layer while coloring. Hair looks and feels stronger for radiant color that's trulyl shiny and luminous.

Will it cover gray hair?
Garnier HerbaShine offers natural gray coverage that lasts through 28 shampoos.

Is it easy to apply?
Application is simple and pleasant. HerbaShine's fragrance is fresh and soothing. The rich, creamy formula spreads easily and doesn't drip. It only takes 10 minutes to get HerbaShine's radiant, shiny color!
___________________________

My opinion: It works really well. The kit comes with: Activating Creme, Ammonia Free Color creme, Shine-infused conditioner, instruction sheet & gloves. I got the color i wanted and i only stayed about 15 minutes with it in my hair. It doesn't drip, it smells nice and the conditioner (step3) smells amazing. Something like coconuts lol It made my hair really soft and shinny. I've gotten a lot of compliments and im really happy with it.
