Avoiding Makeup Meltdown: 3 Important Tips

Now that you have agreed to go to the afternoon baby shower to your friend’s in August, one worry up your sleeve must be that of your makeup melting away in the sweltering sun. But do not let the stress take a toll on you. Given below are three tips that can help your makeup stay and save you from a horrific makeup meltdown:
1. Keeping It Light
Get hands on a reputed brand of foundation that shall keep your skin smooth looking without looking overdone. There is no need to go in for heavy makeup like the stars at the Oscars. The main rule of makeup is that less is more! On a hot day, it is mere foolhardiness to even wear gaudy makeup and look all caked up.

2. The Matte effect
Depending on your skin type, choose an apt moisturizer that shall leave your skin hydrated. Remember the matte look is the best in the heat. There is absolutely no need to use creamy products during a hot day. You do not want to have a dripping eye shadow, right? Choose products in powder finish.
3. Go Waterproof
There is a variety of waterproof products available in the market today. Especially for mascaras, it is better to choose one that is specified as waterproof. There are no chances of smudges around your eye on a day that is humid. After all, who wants to look like a raccoon?
Abide by these subtle makeup tricks to look your beautiful self and avoid the sliding of makeup in scorching heat.

Tag: What's in my bag??

Ok so i thought it was time for an update post of "What's in my bag?". The last one i did was back in 2010. I don't think much has changed since LOL! I generally carry the same type of 1034567 items even if they do change a little bit. You can check out the past post HERE.
Lately i've really been loving the messenger type of bags. They're so much easier to carry around rather than having a mini luggage on one shoulder. The one that i have right now is this Prada bag, which i've had for the longest time but never wore it across my body till recently. It has an adjustable strap but always had it short so i can wear it like a regular bag. Also, in case anyone will mention this, it's obviously not an authentic Prada bag. I got it from a purse party that my aunt hosted a bunch of years ago. A purse is a purse no matter if it's real or fake, as long as it does what it's meant to do i love it.

Ok so with that said here's what the inside kinda looks like...
Making this post and taking the pictures made me realize how much stuff i carry with me all the time LOL. I seriously tried to take out of the things in here so i can make things a bit lighter for me but there's no chance of me letting go of my "just in case" stuff. So here's everything dumped out neatly.
- Wallet: it pretty much carries all the cards and receipts that i need to just have with me
- Coach Wristlet: I keep my liscence and credit card in here. In case i need to go somewhere quick and don't wanna carry my whole bag with me, i just grab this with me.
- Makeup Bag (details bellow)
- House keys and a pound of keychains
- Small brush/mirror
- Post it notes
- Coupons for Target
- Flash drive (don't ask haha)
- Scope (for fresh breath) LOL
- Tide To-Go: this stuff actually works. Saved a white shirt once when i spilled a little coffee on it. I was very excited that it actually removed the stain in like 15 minutes.
- Highlighter and Pen: in case i need to highlight something? I have an obsession with carrying highlighters with me in any/every bag i own haha
- Pink/Blue travel size spray bottles: I filled them up with two of my favorite body mists so i can have it on the to go in case i forget to spray it on or if the smell goes away
- Apple Citrus body lotion: love the smell of this!
- First aid kit: just in case lol i have band-aids and a neosporin in there haha
- GNC pill holder: my mom calls this my mini pharmacy LOL! It has different compartments so i can carry different pills without having them mix. I have midol and advil in there.
- Q-tips: i honestly don't know in what case i would be needing these haha but "just in case". I really loved the packaging to be honest LOL!
- Puffs tissues and Wet Ones
- My iTouch with the cute sock LOL

I honestly have NO idea how all this fits in the bag but it does haha. My brother told me if i had to take a random trip without stopping home to pack, he thinks i would be good for a while since all i need is in the bag... i think i agree...

Makeup Bag
If the content in the whole bag wasn't enough, the makeup bag itself has a bunch of nonsense that i carry with me at all time... you know... just in case LOL
- The little makeup bag is from Target and it's Sonia Kashuk
- Revlon lip gloss in Peach Petal
- Barry M 100 lipstick
- Nivea lip balm
- Revlon Smooth Nude lipstick
- Dental floss "?"
- Mentha lip shine gloss
- Nail files
- Urban Decay liners - Zero and Lucky
- Brushes - blush, shadow and angled
- Sleek Blush
- Mac Togetherness trio
- Three perfume samples
- Tweezers

Ok so that's pretty much all i have in my bag. I think it's plenty don't you think? haha I always like to be prepared and have everything. There isn't one item that i didn't make use of at whatever occasion. I always have everything that's needed and everyone that knows me knows that LOL. My family and best friend always pick on me for carrying soooo much with me but anytime they ask for a band-aid, gloss, nail file or a pen, im sure to have it. I love it haha

What about YOU? Do you find yourself carrying as many things as i do or do you limit yourself to your keys and wallet? If you have a post of what's in your bag, post the link bellow i would LOVE to see it =)

Keep Calm and Blog!

I really did miss spending time on my computer - today with a cup of coffee - and working on blog posts. I've been taking pictures all day and editing for the most part and planning out posts. I feel like i forgot the amount of work that it gets put into blogging LOL! I love it though.

This post won't be too long or about anything in particular but just general updates about what's new, where i've been and what to expect. Now that i'm back on the blog scene i really feel like i owe all my readers an update.

  • I got a new job finally - the daycare job i had was killing me. I now work at Pandora Jewelry and i love it!
  • I am now single and i got used to lovin it. I focus on myself and not having to answer to anyone is sort of a breath of fresh air.
  • I've been spending time studying very hard in school and applying for graduation, which is hopefully happening in December... Yay!
  • I have been keeping active with a workout program that has kept me feeling more energized. I will do a post about this because it's a lot of fun.
  • Another big part of why i've been missing has been to just take a break and focus on myself. I think we all have those "growing up" moments where you need some time for yourself and get it together. Details are personal but that's the gist of things lol!
  • I also feel like i have a lot of ideas for posts so keep watch for FOTDs, NOTDs, Products i love and use, and other fun filled posts.
Thanks again to all my readers for being patient and following my blog
If you have any questions/requests/comments don't hesitate to shoot an email my way, i would love to hear from you.

Pictures of the day...

I thought i would share these pictures that pretty much made me laugh all day today.
I woke up early for school today and after i was all ready to go i take a look at my dog and she completely took over my bed LOL! She was giving me the look that basicaly said "You get to go to school while i stay here and enjoy some sleep"...

What is everyone up to?
Do you feel like this week is already dragging or is it just me?!?

New makeup oganizer!

I went to Target to look for some new makeup organizers since my makeup seems to be all over the place lately. I found this stationary organizer on the clearence section for only $2! You can easily get office stationaries and turn them into gorgeous makeup organizers. I like the fact that it fits all the things i use at the moment so i dont have to keep them in my drawer and look for them everyday.

Also in the back there's this part that opens up and has more space where i put the smaller palettes that i have.

For the price i think it's really nice and helps me organize my makeup. Yay!

Haul!

So i went to Target...again lol and i got a few goodies. If you haven't noticed Target is my new favorite place to go, it has like everything i need so its convenient and i love it. I got a makeup remover (again!) and I finally found E.L.F products! There are about three different Targets around where i live and i never go to the same one. I always look for Elf stuff but never find it and now i found a whole rack with their products. They had a bunch of eyeshadows, lip products, blushes and brushes but i settled for just these three things because i wanted these for now.

First thing i reached for was this blush/bronze duo. It's famous for being a great dupe for Nars Orgasm/Laguna duo. Even though i don't own the Nars duo, i would say its very similar. The consistancy is great. It's very soft and applied easily. The blush is a peacy/pink with golden shimmer. The bronzer is a nice shade with no shimmer, but not matte either. It feels like a satiny finish. It is however a bit powdery and dusty when i run a brush in it, but it picks up a lot of product so it works great. I'm very happy with it and it was only $3!

I wanted to get one of the black studio brushes but i dont know why i didn't LOL I got this angled brozing brush for $1. I thought why not get a brush type that i don't have. The bristles are a red/marooon color. It is soft but sturdy at the same time. It's great to use for contouring or applying little blush. I don't like blending with it because the bristles are a bit rough if you use the circular motions. Next time i go ill reach for the studio brushes, because these dollar ones are not really worth it for the face.

I needed a new concealer and wanted to try this one and see how it is. The shade i picked out is Light Beige. It comes with a wand and I actually really love the consitency. It applies liquidy then as you blend it gets creamy and sort of thickens. I was afraid it would crease up below my eyes but it didn't, it lasted the whole day. It doesn't really have that good of a coverage. I feel like it works better all over my face because it tames down the redness i have. It doesn't cover dark circles under my eyes (or maybe because im sick it didn't work). I'll do a separate post about it if anything changes.
Here are some swatches

In other non-beauty related news...
I got my coffee! LOL
I also got these International Delight Coffee House flavors that i LOVE putting in my coffee for an amazing twist. I got all three flavors that they had- Caramel Macchiato, Vanilla Latte, White Chocolate Mocha. If you go to the international delight coffee website you can find different recipes for how you can use them for coffee, tea and other goodies. If you love coffee like i do, i highly recommend these!

Dedication- To my beautiful best friend

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Today my best friend is celebrating her birthday and i just wanted to dedicate a post to her.
We know each other since freshman year in high school. She became my best friend the next year and we were each others shadow. I relied on her with everything, as she did with me. I can honestly say we're like sisters. We understand each other perfectly and always know what to say to make each others lives bearable. Both of us went through rough times, but were always there for each other so we were not alone ever. There are sooooo many memories i could list that i have with her that are just stuck in my head and shapes our relationship and what we are.
Even though i moved away from NY, we still have that bond that will never be broken by anything or anyone. I miss her dearly and i hope we can visit one another soon and celebrate all the holidays, birthdays and parties that we missed in each others lives.
She's a married woman now, and has grown so much. I am very proud of everything she accomplished and what she will achieve in the future. She's a tiny person, but has a huge heart and an amazing personality and she will always be special to me no matter who walks in or out of my life.

Dearest Dom,
If you get to read this i hope you can come visit me soon so we can go crazy like i promised you LOL! You are my bestest friend. Always were, always will be. No matter what happens, where life takes us, you are with me and i am with you always. I love you dearly!

My 1st Blog Anniversary!

Ahh! It's been a whole year since i started blogging! I was looking today at my very first posts and i LOL-ed. I had no idea what i was doing and if i was doing it right. I was very nervous and self-conscious about putting my picture on the internet for other to judge. I believe i came a long way from that. Even though i didn't keep up with blogging in the beginning, i did however grew to absolutely LOVE blogging and sharing things with everyone. I think it was mainly because i myself was growing comfortable with the makeup world and getting to know more and more about beauty and blogging. I am thankful for each and every one of you that follow, read, comment and enjoy my blog. All of you beautiful people inspire me to keep writing and sharing a piece of me with you. Thank you to all of you! =)

Future goal:
I will have a huge giveaway once i reach 500 followers! I know that's probably not going to happen anytime soon, but it never hurt to dream big right? LOL!

THANK YOU!!!

My Ins and Outs...

I haven't done one of these posts in a while and it just seems appropriate since i feel like i have an entire list of things that i could talk about. So here it is...

INs

SCHOOL!
So summers finally over and i go back to school. I'm mainly excited because i get so much closer to graduating and i cannot wait! Plus back to school means supplies yay!

PINK BLUSHES
I've been obsessed with pink blushes. At the beginning of summer it was all about corals, now im really loving the whole pink flushy cheeks. I find myself reaching for the pink ones more often so its so in!

COCONUT SCENT
I've been literally OBSESSED with anything coconut. I'm not even sure how this whole thing started to be honest lol I'm even drinking coconut smoothies LOL! My next goal is to go by Bath and Body Works and find coconut scented lotions and such.

SWAPPING
I recently did my very first swap and its super fun! I love getting things that i can't find here and to send things that others dont have somewhere else. It's like Christmas morning when i get packages LOL!

TWITTER
I recently joined it and its so much fun! Even though i don't have it on my phone and i can't update it on-the-go, i try my best to be on it...it entertains me lol

FRINGE SIDE-SWEPED BANGS/CURLY HAIR
I'm lovin my hair with bangs recently. I've always parted my bangs to the left. Now i do them to the right, and i'm loving them soooooo much better. Curling my hair has also become something i love doing. I make my hair have more volume, since keeping it straight makes it look flat and limpy. Hooray for good hair days!

OUTs

FACEBOOK/FARMVILLE
There was a time where all i did was go on Facebook and harvesting my crops on Farmville LOL! Now i don't feel the need or the want to be on it, it's too overrated nowadays.

PINK NAILS
I've had this time when i did my nails all pink everytime i had a chance. Now i'm really into more lavender shades and darker colors for fall. Mushroom by Barry M will be my all time favorite i can tell u that now lol!

JEANS
I haven't worn jeans this summer much and i have to say it i love it so much better. It's more fashionable and comfortable to wear various pants and focus on accessories and such.

WORKING
I kinda gave up on looking for a different job or working at all for the rest of the year. I have so many hard classes that im taking and if i dont focus, all the money i would be earning would go to school to re-take classes lol It's focus time!

HELP! - Color in eyebrows BLACK, or stick with BROWN?

(here im wearing the Black pencil)
I decided to try out coloring my eyebrows black. My natural eyebrow color is a very dark brown, almost black in real life, but not thick so you can't really tell that they are black. The pencil i've been using, as you all might know by now is the Wet'n'Wild eye/brow pencil in Dark Brown. Of course i have an unconditional love for this pencil, but i was just trying out a darker pencil. The one i used today is from L'oreal Brow Stylist Custom brow shaping pencil. It comes with two pencils (one brown and one black), but i only use the black one so i can have no brown mixed and see how it turns out.
Personally i don't really know what to think about it. I kinda like it but i'm not sure if it looks as good as brown, that's why i NEED your opinion lol! So i know if i should go ahead and buy black eyebrow pencils or stick with my usual color.

Please leave me a comment below and help me out with this decision i would really appreciate it lol and you can be as honest as you want, i would appreciate it a lot more =)
(Can you tell the difference? lol)
xoxo

So tell me dolls:
Black
or Brown?

I recently reached 200+ followers and i wanted to dedicate a post to all of you that follow me! I absolutely love you guys and appreciate sooooo much that you're interested in what i have to say in this blog. I love all your comments and all the questions you email me that im able to answer and help out with. If you have any requests, questions or concerns feel free to email anytime, drop a comment in a post or follow me on my Twitter which has been super fun to have and to connect with a few of you =)

Since i reached a very high number of followers (at least to me its high LOL!) i decided to share one thing about me that maybe you didn't know....I LOVE to draw. It relaxes me, lets me be creative and put a little piece of me out on a blank piece of paper. I got this "gift" from my dad, who also loves drawing and has a very artistic eye for things. This is one of my most recent drawings that i've done.

Flower Powder and Soap!

Lily of the Valley - I've been obsessed with this smell all last month, and i thought id dedicate a post to it. I had to get another one bc my mom stole the one i had! lol I bought these at TjMaxx for about $5 (powder) and $4 (soap). Both have a distinct smell of the flower Lily of the Valley.

Taylor of London White Talcum Powder
I love using this after i shower. It removes all the moisture, and leaves the skin very soft, with an amazing floral fragrance. I love that it leaves the skin scented throughout the day, so it leaves me smelling fresh and floraly. The only thing that bugs me is that it leaves my skin white LOL! So i have to make sure that a white spot doesn't show up on the skin that is visible lol I normally put powder on my stomach, or on my legs if i dont wear a skirt or shorter pants. All in all i absolutely LOVE the fresh smell and i highly recommend checking it out at your local TjMaxx. They also have other smells available such as Rose and Lavender.

Handmade Soap in Magnolia and Lily
This is a huge soap and i absolutely love it lol I obviously use the soap but i kept the box and use it to put some of my jewelery in it LOL! Now they smell fresh and soapy i love it. The smell is very fresh and feminine. The downside is that it "melts" away pretty fast but its soooooo worth having it. It's even beautiful as a decor for those who love to collect beautiful soaps.

Wish List - Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III

I'm actually pretty excited about this one. I don't own any book of shadows from Urban Decay and i think i really would like to get this one. I regret missing out on the Alice in Wonderland palette, mainly because of the packaging (LOL!) but im really liking this one.
Since im from New York myself, i would really love to have this palette. Also, the colors are very pretty. I love that there are 7 new shades, 2 Sephora exclusive shades and another 7 permanent shades. All in all you get 16 eyeshadows for the price of $54. They of course include two pencils, in Zero and Ransom, and a mini primer potion.

Here are the colors:
(Information from Temptalia)

  • Perversion is a matte charcoal black. This is a permanent shade, and it has been featured in BoS I and II.
  • Uzi is a whitish-silver with flecks of silver glitter. This is a permanent shade, and it has been featured in the Sustainable palette.
  • Loaded is a deep forest green with a metallic shimmer sheen. This is new and exclusive to this palette.
  • Kush is a medium grassy green with a subtle cool undertone. This is a nice shade with excellent color payoff, and it is new and exclusive to this palette.
  • Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is a pink-tinged champagne with champagne flecks of glitter. This shade is permanent, and it has been in BoS II and BoS Alice in Wonderland, as well as the Sustainable palette.
  • Last Call is a medium plum with strong red undertones and shimmer finish. This is a permanent shade that’s also a popular palette shade–it’s been featured in BoS I, BoS AiW, and Ammo.
  • Rockstar is a deep shade of eggplant purple with burgundy-red undertones and a shimmer-sheen. This is a new and exclusive shade to the palette.
  • Money is a silvered blue with a metallic blue-green sheen. Very pretty and will be a great shade to layer over colored bases to bring out different undertones. This shade is new and exclusive to the palette.
  • Haight is a brightened medium blue with a frost finish that pulls just an itsy bit teal. This is shade is permanent, but it’s a Sephora exclusive. It hasn’t been in any other palettes.
  • Maui Wowie is an antique gold with a nearly metallic gold sheen. It also has flecks of dark gold glitter, so it can have some fall out issues. This is a permanent shade, and it’s also been in BoS AiW and Ammo.
  • Smog is a medium-dark bronze with a shimmer-frost finish. This is a shade that’s been in a ton of palettes! It’s permanent, but it has also been released in BoS I, Ammo, Naked, and Vegan.
  • Bordello is a mauve-tinged pink with soft flecks of dark pink shimmer-glitter. It’s smooth, pigmented, and has an almost metallic sheen. This is a new and exclusive shade.
  • Radium is a true medium blue with a cooler undertone and a softer frost finish. Great pigmentation! It is new and exclusive to this palette, and I imagine its color gets inspiration from Radium Cream Eyeshadow.
  • Snatch is a peachy-pink with a frosty finish. It’s very smooth and has nice pigmentation. This was originally in the Show Pony palette.
  • Suspect is a medium bronze that pulls a smidgen taupe and has a rather cooler undertone. This is a new and exclusive shade.
  • Psychedelic Sister is a brightened medium purple with red undertones. It’s a nice shade of purple that’s pigmented and has a soft frost sheen. It’s a permanent, but it is a Sephora exclusive. This is the first time it’s been in a palette.

I'm really lovin the variety! I do own Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Perversion, Maui Wowie and Smog, so if you have any questions regarding those four eyeshadows, i can tell you from experience using them.
The design of the palette seems really nice. It looks sleek black, and has the NYC feel to it. Lots of colors, and the pop-up is very busy looking, just like the city! lol!
I'm very big on palettes so i really recommend checking out the Urban Decay ones. They're always good value, great quality and very unique. I rarely, almost never get the individual eyeshadows. The only one i have as an individual is Perversion, which was my first Urban Decay eyeshadow. The rest are in palettes. They're handy to carry with you, they're worth great value, and they look super pretty to have as a collection.
It's said to be released sometime in September/October.
(all pictures are from Temptalia)
