FOTD - Smokey Mary Jane

I managed to take a few pictures of my look today before i went to work. I'm really lovin this Urban Decay eyeshadow. I feel like it lights up the eyes with the metallic look to it. Feels like i haven't posted an FOTD post in a while. You may notice that im not wearing falsies in this look. I haven't worn false lashes in a few months now because i felt that my natural ones were barely there. I realized that all i really needed was a good mascara to make the lashes look somewhat decent. If i feel like i need that extra oomph i have lashes handy that i can just put on. Ok so with that said, here's the look for today =)

REVIEW: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and Powder!

I'm sure many of you are already familiar with this new Fit Me line that Maybelline recently came out with. I've been wearing this foundation enough so i can give a full review based on my experience with these products. I purchased both the foundation and powder from Target for $6.99, which is a great price for a foundation and powder. They also have available concealer, blush and bronzer (which i REALLY want to try) for just under $6.

Fit Me Foundation in 220
The shade that i picked up that look more yellow undertoned is 220 Natural Beige. Here's what it says on the bottle:
  • Matches Natural Tone
  • Blends Seamlessly
  • Let's Skin Breathe
First thing i noticed that i don't like is that it doesn't have a pump. I feel like it's such so messy when working with a bottled foundation. The foundation itself has a very soft creamy consistency which i love and it's very easy to blend and work with. It does have a smell, which doesn't really bother me. It's like a fresh baby powder sort of smell so i kind of like it. It didn't feel heavy on my face but me being oily skinned i noticed that it's extremely oily so i need to powder my face several times a day. I'm personally not a big fan of the dewy look from foundations, i'd rather apply highlight powders to get the glow that i want. Having a dewy look makes my skin look like very greasy and messy. The coverage is decent i really like it, except that it fades away quickly. If you have trouble skin and need full coverage i wouldn't recommend this foundation. As it fades you might end up looking blotchy and dirty. I don't think i would re-purchase this foundation just because of its oily feel on my face and the short lasting power.

Fit Me Pressed Powder in 220
I picked up the shade that matched the foundation in Natural Beige.
I like how nice it combined with the foundation on the skin to help it set. What i really don't like is that it smudges onto clothes extremely easily and i don't like that. I tried applying a translucent powder over it and it just looked like a powdery mess on my face. It does leave my skin feeling and looking very soft but the fact that it transfers onto things really easy bugs me a lot. Even though it's the same shade as the foundation, it makes the foundation look a lot darker. So if you're a NC30 for example, the foundation will match you but with the powder you will look like NC35-NC37. I doubt i would wear the powder often.

Overall Opinion:
Even though it's a great affordable foundation, i don't see myelf rushing to buy another one anytime soon. The fact that it doesn't last me all day doesn't sit very well with me. I don't have time to re-apply foundations all day so i need something that has a decent lasting power and won't look like a mess by the end of the day. My skin is somewhat sensitive and pretty oily so wearing the foundation every single day made me break out a little bit so i don't want to use it everyday or on bad skin days. I would recommend it for thos of you with dryer skin and don't need that full coverage like me. I will however give the blushes and bronzers a try because of the variety and how pretty they look. Ill keep you posted when i do.

I will post a picture with me wearing it soon...

Have you tried and FIT ME products?
Any thoughts you would like to share about this?

Haul! - Maybelline and Revlon

If you follow me on twitter i mentioned that the past week Revlon and Maybelline were 40% off and i figured of taking advantage of a few things that i've been wanting to try out. I will give you first impressions then be open to do full post reviews for products that i need more time to test out and give you a better review.
So here are the few things that i picked up...

Revlon PhotoReady foundation in 006 Medium Beige - i only wore it about three times but so far i really love this foundation. I was really worried about the whole glitter part and because i have oily skin i thought it would definitely make me look like a disco ball, but it doesn't. The shimmers are very fine and it just gives my face a healthy glow - Stay tuned for a full review post soon...

Maybelline ExpertWear eyeshadow singles in Silken Taupe - i had really high hopes for this eyeshadow. The name sounds smooth and i thought it would be a nice all over the lid color but it hardly is. It's a bit hard to work with. It's not soft and the color is just a light taupy shimmer that would probably be nice in the inner corners or highlight. I will try to find more uses for it and keep you updated.

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner - I got this in Blackest Black. They have three other colors: Brown, Charcoal and Eggplant. I love the consistency of this liner. It goes on smoothly and you can easily build up how intense you want it. You can smudge it if you want and it's long lasting. As you can see by the pictures, i tried to wipe it off and you can still see it on my hand. I'm not a big fan of the brush. The first time you use it it works really nice then it just gets hardened and its more difficult to smooth it out. I hope the liner doesn't dry out on me fast.

Maybelline Dream Mousse concealer in Cream - It's the darkest shade for Light skin tones. They have other two darker ones. The concealer is a matte finish and very soft and smooth. I use it under my eyes and i absolutely love it. I will do a full post review with pictures and more details after i use it more.

Revlon Lipgloss in Peach Petal - I've been seeing reviews on this and i absolutely loved it so i really wanted to try it. The color is gorgeous. It's a creamy nude. It's a bit of a sticky consistency and it doesn't last very long but still i love it. It kind of reminded me of Nars Turkish Delight but it's not as pink. It looks the same because of the creamy look and feel to it. This is definitely my new go-to lipgloss i love it on either lipstick or on bear lips.
