Flower Powder and Soap!

Lily of the Valley - I've been obsessed with this smell all last month, and i thought id dedicate a post to it. I had to get another one bc my mom stole the one i had! lol I bought these at TjMaxx for about $5 (powder) and $4 (soap). Both have a distinct smell of the flower Lily of the Valley.

Taylor of London White Talcum Powder
I love using this after i shower. It removes all the moisture, and leaves the skin very soft, with an amazing floral fragrance. I love that it leaves the skin scented throughout the day, so it leaves me smelling fresh and floraly. The only thing that bugs me is that it leaves my skin white LOL! So i have to make sure that a white spot doesn't show up on the skin that is visible lol I normally put powder on my stomach, or on my legs if i dont wear a skirt or shorter pants. All in all i absolutely LOVE the fresh smell and i highly recommend checking it out at your local TjMaxx. They also have other smells available such as Rose and Lavender.

Handmade Soap in Magnolia and Lily
This is a huge soap and i absolutely love it lol I obviously use the soap but i kept the box and use it to put some of my jewelery in it LOL! Now they smell fresh and soapy i love it. The smell is very fresh and feminine. The downside is that it "melts" away pretty fast but its soooooo worth having it. It's even beautiful as a decor for those who love to collect beautiful soaps.

FOTD - Purple Gunmetal

I was feeling in the mood to wear Lazy Day lipstick today, im not sure why lol! The only colors that i like wearing with it are purple and a shade of turquoise. So i decided to experiment with a rocker chick type of style, like a smokey purple with a hint of color. Hope you like it! =)

Makeup 101 - The Eye/shadows

One of my followers requested a post dedicated to eyeshadows. I realize a lot of people, just starting out with makeup, don't know much about it. I remember when i first started out with makeup. I went on youtube, google and read various magazines to help me out. But the best thing that helped me out were beauty blogs.
So this post will be dedicated to the ones that are just starting out, especially my follower who requested this information.

First of all lets learn about the eye and a few tips about everything.
Brow bone - this is basically where your eyebrows arches. This area is a great highlight area, where it makes the eye look brighter and make your eyebrows arch seem higher. You can use light shimmery eyeshadow colors. A few i love using and recommend are Mac Vanilla, Urban Decay Virgin, Almay Ivory. Choose the best highlight that fits your skintone.

Crease - this is your eye socket. Study your eye and wherever you feel your eye socket, that's where your crease is. The colors most recommended to go in the crease are dark matte shades that will give the eye more dimension and make it look larger. Darkening the crease also gives the eye the smokey look.

Lid - this is the area from the lash line to the crease. You can put whatever color you want here. Make sure that you balance colors out. If you have glitter and shimmer on your lid, use a matte shade on your crease. If you have a matte all over the lid color, use a color with more sheen/shimmer to it.

Inner Corner - you don't have to add any color to this area. However, if you do a dramatic look and want your eyes to look more open and bright, this is the area where you add a highlight color (just like the brow bone area)

Waterline - this is a sensitive area for a lot of people. My eyes used to get watery everytime i put eyeliner on my waterline. Now im used to it. This is the area for black (white or colored) eyeliner that shapes up the eye.
Outer Corner - you can do various things in the outer corner. You can smudge eyeliner and connect it with a line that you draw below the waterline. Here's where you start out your crease color (at least that's what i do)

Lashline - this is the area where your lashes are. You can use eyeliner or smudge eyeshadow softly. When you add false lashes, you want to get the as close to the lashline as possible, AFTER you apply your eyeliner.

Makeup is all about experimenting and finding what works best for you. Everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way. Don't copy makeup, then get frustrated if it doesn't look as good on you. It's not because you don't know how to do it, it's because you focus to much on doing it the way you see it, instead of having fun and working it with how you're shaped. I'm speaking from experience. I too copied and used to be so frustrated, until i started to experiment on my own and had fun with the looks i created.

If you have trouble with mixing colors, or confused about which colors match, try it out on your hand. Swatch two or three colors next to each other and see if they would look together on the eye.

Maybelline makes quads that are labeled, so you know which shade to apply where. This is perfect for beginners, because it makes it easy to create complicated looks in a very easy step-by-step way.

Remember on thing dolls, makeup is not permanent. You can always wash it off if you don't like it. It's all about trials and errors. Practice makes perfect too, so just have fun and enjoy the art of makeup =)

Share with me some of your tips and tricks that you learned as you were starting out with makeup, and i will feature your answers in this post =)

Welcome to the new makeup addicts! =)

FOTD - Kim Kardashian Fusion Beauty Ad inspired

I've been inspired by Kim K a lot lately LOL! This ad specifically stood out to me because of the neutral almost bronzy gold colors that are in it. Of course i find anything neutral lately so i can use my Naked Palette. The pictures i took unfortunately don't do justice to the look AT ALL. It looks much more intense and dark in real life, like in the picture. It's very simple either way. Hers in the ad is super intense because of the shadows and how the light hits her face. Keep in mind this is just an inspiration, not necesarily an imitation. Hope you like it =)

Wish List - Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III

I'm actually pretty excited about this one. I don't own any book of shadows from Urban Decay and i think i really would like to get this one. I regret missing out on the Alice in Wonderland palette, mainly because of the packaging (LOL!) but im really liking this one.
Since im from New York myself, i would really love to have this palette. Also, the colors are very pretty. I love that there are 7 new shades, 2 Sephora exclusive shades and another 7 permanent shades. All in all you get 16 eyeshadows for the price of $54. They of course include two pencils, in Zero and Ransom, and a mini primer potion.

Here are the colors:
(Information from Temptalia)

  • Perversion is a matte charcoal black. This is a permanent shade, and it has been featured in BoS I and II.
  • Uzi is a whitish-silver with flecks of silver glitter. This is a permanent shade, and it has been featured in the Sustainable palette.
  • Loaded is a deep forest green with a metallic shimmer sheen. This is new and exclusive to this palette.
  • Kush is a medium grassy green with a subtle cool undertone. This is a nice shade with excellent color payoff, and it is new and exclusive to this palette.
  • Midnight Cowboy Rides Again is a pink-tinged champagne with champagne flecks of glitter. This shade is permanent, and it has been in BoS II and BoS Alice in Wonderland, as well as the Sustainable palette.
  • Last Call is a medium plum with strong red undertones and shimmer finish. This is a permanent shade that’s also a popular palette shade–it’s been featured in BoS I, BoS AiW, and Ammo.
  • Rockstar is a deep shade of eggplant purple with burgundy-red undertones and a shimmer-sheen. This is a new and exclusive shade to the palette.
  • Money is a silvered blue with a metallic blue-green sheen. Very pretty and will be a great shade to layer over colored bases to bring out different undertones. This shade is new and exclusive to the palette.
  • Haight is a brightened medium blue with a frost finish that pulls just an itsy bit teal. This is shade is permanent, but it’s a Sephora exclusive. It hasn’t been in any other palettes.
  • Maui Wowie is an antique gold with a nearly metallic gold sheen. It also has flecks of dark gold glitter, so it can have some fall out issues. This is a permanent shade, and it’s also been in BoS AiW and Ammo.
  • Smog is a medium-dark bronze with a shimmer-frost finish. This is a shade that’s been in a ton of palettes! It’s permanent, but it has also been released in BoS I, Ammo, Naked, and Vegan.
  • Bordello is a mauve-tinged pink with soft flecks of dark pink shimmer-glitter. It’s smooth, pigmented, and has an almost metallic sheen. This is a new and exclusive shade.
  • Radium is a true medium blue with a cooler undertone and a softer frost finish. Great pigmentation! It is new and exclusive to this palette, and I imagine its color gets inspiration from Radium Cream Eyeshadow.
  • Snatch is a peachy-pink with a frosty finish. It’s very smooth and has nice pigmentation. This was originally in the Show Pony palette.
  • Suspect is a medium bronze that pulls a smidgen taupe and has a rather cooler undertone. This is a new and exclusive shade.
  • Psychedelic Sister is a brightened medium purple with red undertones. It’s a nice shade of purple that’s pigmented and has a soft frost sheen. It’s a permanent, but it is a Sephora exclusive. This is the first time it’s been in a palette.

I'm really lovin the variety! I do own Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Perversion, Maui Wowie and Smog, so if you have any questions regarding those four eyeshadows, i can tell you from experience using them.
The design of the palette seems really nice. It looks sleek black, and has the NYC feel to it. Lots of colors, and the pop-up is very busy looking, just like the city! lol!
I'm very big on palettes so i really recommend checking out the Urban Decay ones. They're always good value, great quality and very unique. I rarely, almost never get the individual eyeshadows. The only one i have as an individual is Perversion, which was my first Urban Decay eyeshadow. The rest are in palettes. They're handy to carry with you, they're worth great value, and they look super pretty to have as a collection.
It's said to be released sometime in September/October.
