Summer Foundation!

So the past few days the weather in Chicago has been gorgeous! I realized my face was feeling heavy with all the foundation and it was getting annoying. I was looking online and i got a few tips on making your own tinted moisturizer!

What is a tinted moisturizer?
Tinted moisturizer combines the benefits of skin care and a light foundation for a natural, luminous complexion.

It basically is a combination of a moisturizer and foundation. It's gives a light coverage so you don't have that heavy foundation feeling. Unfortunately, even know it sounds convenient, it might not cover some people. It also might leave your skin with a shiny appearance so you have to put powder. The good part is that it feels really light on the skin, it gives protection if you use one with SPF in it. I'm mentioning again that it might not give you the desired coverage so you might want to use a concealer for blemishes.

Here's what i did:
Instead of going and buying a new tinted moisturizer, for now i just mixed the moisturizer with my usual foundation. It honestly did not give my the coverage i wanted to i had to apply more foundation to even out my skin (which is very uneven by the way). I wanted to try this out before i actually went out and got one for the summer, to see if it would work for me. I'm not so sure so i'll have to find another alternative. But i'm making this post because it might work for some of you for the summer.
I mixed my usual Revlon Colorstay foundation in Golden Beige with Biore skin preservation, which is a moisturizer with SPF 30 so it works great. The i used the Kirkland brush that's intended for blush. It looks like a good stippling brush so i used it for this. I stippled the mixture onto my face and blended everything in. Of course i looked like i had a wet face because i have oily skin so i had to pack on powder. My skin felt lighter and a bit better than when i just put the foundation. I might use this technique for a while until i can get something better for the summer. Any suggestions?

  1. Wasn't the weather just gorgeous in the past few days minus today, ugh I still can't believe it dropped 30 degrees overnight! I miss the 80 degree weather already, can't wait til it comes back! :) I think your skin looks perfect in this picture, it looks airbrushed to me, very pretty ;) I'm personally not really into tinted moisturizers because I feel kind of naked if I don't wear foundation and I want the fullest coverage possible, but if I find one that gives a decent coverage I may go for it. Most people rave about Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20, you may want to check it out ;)

  3. Hi! I know what you mean about makeup feeling heavy in the summer time. So what I started doing is I apply the foundation is spots all over my face then I spritz a fluffy brush (MAC 109) with water. I then work the foundation out and all over the my skin and the brush both applies and blends at the same time. I feel this method helps sheer the foundation therefore not feel as heavy on your face. Let me know how it works out for you!

  4. Your skin looks so good with this foundation/moisturizer mixture. I like the consistency and coverage of the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer but the color match isn't as close as I'd like for me, although they have a wide selection. Spring and Summer are my favourite seasons but the feeling of melting makeup is GROSS...I have combination skin and I've found that Makeup Forever Matte Velvet foundation is one of the best at beating the heat

  5. You so need to get your hands on a BB cream, they already contain sunscreen, usually SPF25-30. They are also way lighter than foundation, and lots of them have oil control components! They would be perfect for you as summer foundation!
